Whole30 Diet Experience: Round One Results. Day 1 to Day 30 with Photos.

Hey, there!

I want to share my Whole30 diet experience with you. Currently, I’m on round two and I didn’t want to post much about my current journey without talking about the first one.

I journaled my journey on my personal Facebook page and on my Instagram page, but I didn’t blog or vlog about it and I don’t know why.

During my first round of Whole30, I went through some things that I’ve never gone through before and let me just say… It was all worth it and it still is.
These are posts from my personal Facebook page and some of my teacher groups copied and pasted here into this post.

Here are a few books from the Whole30 Series that I used to help me stay on track. Personally, I wish I had bought them instead of borrowing them from the library because since this is a long process, before, during, and after I didn’t want to return books I needed to reference often.

This book here is one I needed the most and still need.

Sites that I order groceries from:
PrimeNow  The best place to order from. PrimeNow delivers groceries from Whole Foods the same day AND they have free shipping for Prime Members. There, they have more Whole30 compliant foods and products than anywhere else in my area. I’m able to Primal Kitchen brand foods, sugar-free bacon, and pasture-raised eggs. It helps to already have an Amazon Prime Membership.

Walmart Grocery The second best place to order your groceries. As always, Walmart is super affordable and offer more organic brands more than they ever have before. The only con with ordering with them is that not everything is in stock, even if it’s on the site and you can’t get your groceries the same day you order.

Other places to order Whole30 approved and compliant products:
Thrive Market: Thrive Market has a whole category dedicated to Whole30 approved products.

My Whole30 Journey Round One:

Day 5. July 14, 2019
Con: I look and feel more bloated (gas wise).šŸ’Ø
Pro: I’m losing water weight.šŸ’§
Con: My body didn’t appreciate me trying to walk down the street in shapewear.😵
Pro: I looked good though.šŸ™‹šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø
Con: I’m sleepy. šŸ˜“
Pro: But I’m not tired.šŸ¦øā€ā™€ļø
(More) Pros: šŸ‘©šŸ¾ā€šŸ’¼
I feel calmer and less anxious.😌
I laugh easier.šŸ˜†
I’m being more intentional with what I eat and how it’s made.šŸ„¬šŸ—šŸ„¦šŸ„‘šŸ„“šŸ„—šŸ šŸšŸ„šŸ“šŸ‰šŸŒ
#Grateful

At this point, I begin to feel emotionally and spiritually lighter. I was able to laugh and cry easier than ever. I was no longer holding it all back. It made me feel free.

Day 6: July 15, 2019
I’m trying to teach while on day 5 of the Whole30 diet.
Mentally, I feel great! Physically, my stomach is trying to convince me to be hungry and I just ate.
Gif me!

Day 8: July 18, 2019
Ummmm! Y’all please pray for the no-show gods to come through.
I’m so fatigued from this whole30 diet (day 8) and it seems like everybody and their momma is showing up for class.
I NEED a few SNSs.
PRAY!!!

Day 10: July 20, 2019
I don’t know what this Whole30 diet is doing!
Mentally, I feel good and I could keep going.
However, I am experiencing common aches and pains. My body wants to stop.
After this apparent SNS, I have one more class and then I’m going to go to bed.
The white dog is my brain.
The other dog is my body.

Sleepy dog

Day 15: July 25, 2019
Just in case y’all thought I was playin…
#Whole30 #Day1 vs #Day15
I’m halfway through. I actually considered quitting today before taking this photo. Now, that I see my progress, I’m glad I didn’t.
I haven’t been working out as much as I hoped. The fatigue still sets in, but I feel good.
#15DaysToGo #LetsGo #DontMindMyMessyBathroom

*By this point, I was including pilates and walking in my routine.

Same day in a facebook group:
I don’t know if I mentioned that I am on the Whole30 Diet, but I made it to day 15! I’m halfway through.
ESL wise, I feel more patient and energetic. I’m less groggy in the morning.
However, I’m still waiting for the grogginess to completely disappear, that’s if it will. And I’m still dealing with the strange side-effect of having difficulty falling asleep, even when I take *Calm magnesium at night.
*Although Calm has stevia in it, I still took it to help deal with my anxiety and muscle spasms.*

Day 16: July 26, 2019

Two packs of uncured unsweetened bacon, two pounds of boneless skinless thighs, and two cartons of @vitalfarms eggs. Btw, these will be my forever-eggs.

Birthday Cake(1)
No, I didn’t save any for later. That whole cake was his. He wasn’t able to share any because he was sick on his birthday. So, I used PrimeNow again and ordered him a cake and some pizza.

Day 30: August 9, 2019

#Whole30 Days 1, 15, and 30. šŸ’ŖšŸ¾
šŸ’šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļøHow do I feel? Better than I’ve ever felt.
How much did/do I weigh? I was about 217. I don’t want to know how much I weigh now. I don’t own a scale. I saw my weight about a month ago at the doctor’s.
What will I do next? Slowly reintroduce some foods to see what bothers me. But somethings I don’t think I’ll go back to or keep in the home. If I want it, I’ll go sit at a restaurant, eat, and try not to bring any home.
I’ll also continue to keep promises to myself. That’s what I learned on this diet… To keep promises to me. I’m worth and I teach people how to treat me by how I treat myself.
So, I will reintroduce some things but this might be a forever di… way of life just with some adjustments.
.
šŸ“’Other things I’ve noticed.
😓I sleep better.
My stomach doesn’t hurt anymore.
I don’t feel so gassy anymore or get full easily.
šŸ’µšŸ’°I spend more on groceries and less on fast food. That’s fine with me though.
My periods are better and seem to be changing schedule.
I’ve learned to respect my body more and be really picky about what I put into it.
I like the expensive pasture-raised eggs and sugar-free bacon šŸ³šŸ„“ from whole foods.
ā¤ļø I love medjool dates.
šŸ™…šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļøWill power doesn’t exist. What exists is the desire to learn how to eat differently and to learn to love yourself more than you love food and the taste of it. I don’t think I’ve ever said it aloud, but I am a compulsive overeater. No jokes. Real addiction.
This diet is not a quick – fix or a cure, but a big step towards healthier habits and freedom from the love of food. Not the ‘I love to eat different ethnic foods’ love. I’m talking the love for myself and the love for my life was/ has been replaced with the love of food. That love of food has caused me to do insane things for the pursuit of a flavor on my tongue and the rush of salt and sugar in my body. The type of ill-love has been the culprit of my health issue. THAT “love”! It’s not where I’m supposed to place my love.
.
Back to the things I’ve noticed…
😌I’m calmer.
šŸ˜…šŸ˜I laugh easier and louder, but I cry easier now too. (Learning it’s okay to cry.) big girl panties are for paying bills not holding back emotions for others.
TMI, buuut
.
.
.
.
šŸ‘€ My libido is back! YES! šŸ˜œšŸ˜›šŸ˜ Y’ALL! šŸ˜…šŸ˜…šŸ˜…
šŸ‹šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļøWhen I work out, I’m not extremely sore days after. I’m that sore you get from doing an extra push up, but not I tried a new sport sore.
šŸ™‹šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļøI wake up easier. Yet, I still have trouble falling asleep. (Misplaced energy?)
I have real energy to do stuff. šŸ¤¹šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø I don’t drink coffee or tea either.
My eyelashes look fuller and longer. I’ll try to post a photo below. (Didn’t!)

There is so much more, but I have to thank God for helping me. This is another answered prayer. GOD DOES ANSWER PRAYERS. He didn’t forget about you. I thought He forgot about me, but He hasn’t. He did forget about you either.

If you decide to try this diet. Read, read, read up on it before you start. Keep in mind any potential events that are coming up and maybe be aware of them, or start the diet after.

  1. […] Click here to read about my first round of #Whole30.I have also gained some inches back. Not horribly, but I’ve noticed some of my clothes feeling tighter. I may have gained weight back but I don’t get in the scale. In fact, I don’t have a scale. If I have a scale at home, I will just weigh myself everyday and become super critical of myself. I’m already very hard on myself. I deserve grace too. However, my depression has been kicking my butt and the cold weather and dark days aren’t helping. To add, my endometriosis symptoms started to return. I simply just can’t have that. Not at all. With God’s help, I will complete this journey as I have before and I have plans to try to make this lifestyle a little more permanent.Follow me on my journey. […]

  2. […] 6. Check Your Diet! What you eat and drink will cause inflammation to the body, including the brain. The foods we love can have an affect on our mood and overall functionality. We need to make sure that we avoid foods and drinks we are allergic to.Avoid foods and drinks that exasperates our depression (alcohol, grains, dairy) and anxiety (chocolate and coffee) if this is something that we’ve already been diagnosed with. I have. This may mean that you need to get tested for allergies and try an elimination diet (AIP or WHOLE30). […]
