Here are 4 Mood & Energy Boosting Tools I Use Daily.

set of skincare supplies on white table in bathroom

I’m a super busy thirty-something-year-old mom who homeschools, blogs, acts, teaches English, cooks 2 to 3 meals a day, and more, I have to make sure my day starts with things I know that will keep me fresh, awake, and going strong. So, I have a minimum of 4 mood and energy boosting tools I use to start my day.

Since two out of my many jobs involve me being in front of the camera, I have to use products that will help me look and feel my best. That means having clear skin, nice hair, staying mentally & physically healthy, and keeping my teeth as close to white as I can outside of the dentist’s office.

1. Hello Antiplaque + Whitening Flouride-Free Toothpaste.

Hello Toothpaste -4 powerful products I use to start my day
Hello Antiplaque + Whitening Toothpaste (Flouride-Free) – Ebony Glass Co.com

Hello’s anti-plaque and whitening toothpaste is number one on my list as it is the first thing I use in the morning. It’s made with natural peppermint, tea tree, and coconut oil. I love using this toothpaste because it helps to me to feel fresh, keeps my teeth bright and shiny, and it’s super affordable. It’s one of the few affordable natural and sugar-free toothpaste brands out there.

My son uses Hello’s Flouride-Free watermelon toothpaste as it has yummy flavors every child loves, hence it isn’t super strong tasting. It tastes great and it’s fun for him to use.

2. Minimo Skin Essentials Dé jàvu Sea Buckthorn Face Serum.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that this serum has appeared in a few posts on here and on Instagram within the past few months. I love this serum! When I use it, it leaves my skin looking hydrated, and with a healthy tone.

Minimo Skin Essentials De javu Sea Buckthorn Face Serum – Ebony Glass Co.

The reason why I serum works for me is that it helps to control my skin’s natural oils and helps to prevent breakouts. My skin is oily-combo. It seems the older I get, I get really dry on certain parts of my face (chin and forehead). I also easily get acne scars and hyperpigmentation. Right now I’m on a mission of prevention and maintaining my baby face.

Click here to shop for this serum and use promo code ‘EBONY20’ to get 20% OFF your first purchase.

3. Jarrow Formulas Vitamin D-3

I take this supplement every other day according to the instructions. Vitamin D-3 helps me to regulate my mood and aids in my fight against depression. It’s really been helping. Along with therapy and I plan on trying light therapy for this winter season.
If you didn’t know, vitamin D deficiency has been known to be a crucial nutrient for women’s mental and physical health.

4. Jarrow Formulas Methyl B-12 chewable in lemon.

It’s amazing for energy without needing coffee or tea to stay awake. Although, I am #TeamNaptime.

It’s also amazing for my nerve function as someone who deals with sciatic nerve pain, anxiety, and feminine health (red blood cell production) issues, this supplement has been helping me be less irritable.
There are two places you can find these supplements.
You can get them at Amazon.com.
You can also get them at Thrive Market as well. This is where I get most of my supplements.

I hope these products help you as much as they’ve been helped me. I would never recommend anything that doesn’t work or that I don’t like. These brands are trustwor because they do what they say they will do.

Check them out, try them for your morning routine, and see for yourself. Leave a comment with your favorite supplements.

black girl sunscreen

Dear Brown Skin Girl, Here’s How To Protect Your Skin.

Black Girl Sunscreen is a Must For The Brown Skin Girl!

Hey! My name is Ebony and I’m so proud to be black. I’m proud to be a brown skin girl and I’m happy to have found Black Girl Sunscreen!
I’m on a mission to reduce my scars and hyperpigmentation. Within my research to minimize my current skin care issues, I read that using sunscreen along with my current skin care routine, would help combat and prevent hyperpigmentation. In my daily routine, I make sure to wear this over my moisturizer and under my makeup to reap the full benefits.

As a brown skin girl, I’m learning to love my skin, I must invest in products and companies that know what it’s like to be me and know what I need to take care of myself.

What’s So Great About This Sunscreen?

black girl sunscreen
Black Girl Sunscreen Review – This photo belongs to Ebony Glass (Author) http://www.EbonyGlassCo.com

Black Girl Sunscreen is created by women of color for people of color. It’s formulated to dry clear and make anyone who wears it to have glowing skin. This cruelty-free sunscreen can be used on that face and the body daily. It’s also vegan, it’s infused with natural ingredients, and it’s reef-safe.

Why do I need it? Confession…

I haven’t used sunscreen up until recently. *gasp* I know, I know! I didn’t really invest in a sunscreen because most sunscreens make me look ashy and contain ingredients that I don’t like to use on my body. Also, I still held on to the myth that we (black people) didn’t really need sunscreen.

Well, it turns out that we do. We can still get skin cancer and the harmful rays of the sun can and will age us faster. Therefore, cracking the black that supposedly doesn’t crack. So, we need to protect all this melanin magic!

Forever Young.

Ebony (Author) with Black Girl Sunscreen – http://www.EbonyGlassCo.com

I already look twenty-something to most people and I plan on keeping it that way for as long as I can. Now that I’ve been using it for over a month, I’ve already noticed a reduction of dark marks. I also noticed that I look super moisturized and healthy when I wear this sunscreen. With Black Girl Sunscreen, there’s no ashy greyness, only glowing blackness.

Talk to you later!

Minimo’s Miracle Dead Sea Mud Mask Review

Minimo Miracle Dead Sea Mud Mask Review – http://www.EbonyGlassCo.com

Hey there! Let me introduce you to Minimo’s Miracle Dead Sea Mud Mask, a gentle and skin-soothing mask to add to your skincare routine. Read this all the way to the end to get a promo code for 20% off your first purchase with Minimo.

Minimo Skin Essentials Miracle Dead Sea Mud Mask. The Minimo brand is black-owned and woman-owned, made with simple ingredients, and is super affordable! Since I happen to have ordered the full-sized sample glow pack, I’ll be doing several product reviews on a few items of theirs from that bundle.

Miracle Dead Sea Mud Mask Review

I’ve written about the Minimo Skin Essentials in my previous post on how I have reduced my hyperpigmentation for my dark skin. In this review, I want to highlight Minimo’s Miracle Dead Sea Mud Mask. It’s a soothing non-drying mask that detoxes and mildly exfoliates the skin. Its main ingredients are:
Ashwagandha as an anti-inflammatory,
Pure Israeli Dead Sea Mud as detoxifier,
French Green Clay as an exfoliator, &
Multani Mitti Ayurvedic Clay as balancing agent of your skin’s natural oil production.
It also contains other ingredients that are organic, non-gmo, vegan, and / or kosher.

I’ve been using this mask for about a month along with their other products. It is recommended to be applied to clean and dry skin and be used a most once a week.

Why Do I Recommend it?

I personally recommend trying this mask if you often deal with inflamed and painful acne. The Miracle mask contains ingredients that soothe sore skin. Minimo’s Miracle Dead Sea Mud Mask contains non-comedogenic oils that won’t allow it to dry and harden on your face. Therefore, you avoid causing further irritation while reducing the size, pain, and redness after use.

This really works, especially if you are using other products that reduce inflammation and are also gentle on your skin. The goal is to soothe the skin, not further irritate it.

Ebony using Minimo’s Miracle Dead Sea Mud Mask – http://www.EbonyGlassCo.com

My acne can be small yet painful. They appear on my cheeks, my chin, forehead, and around my hairline. I do my best to take care of them before they get too big or develope a whitehead. Ew! Once they heal… or I pick them. EW! I know! I know! It’s bad. Then, I get acne scars and hyperpigmentation.
If you want to try their mask and other products, I recommend visiting their site and shopping around or visit their store.

As an actress and an online ESL teacher, my goal is to always have (What I like to call) camera-ready skin. Yes, there is makeup, but I don’t always wear makeup when I’m not on set or recording an audition.

When I do, it’s always a really light amount so… yeah. I want to look as natural as possible. Therefore, my skin needs to look its best. So, let me show you what I use to get glowing and smooth skin.

*Note: This post is not sponsored. However, there are some affiliate links. If you choose to click these links, they are free. If you choose to make a purchase through these links, I will earn a tiny commision.

Here’s How to Get Glowing Skin and Reduce Hyperpigmentation.

Since I have the issue of hyperpigmentation caused by acne, I use Alba Botanica’s Acnedote Deep Pore Wash. I first wet my face and neck and then lather the product between my hands.

I work this in on my face and neck (and sometimes on my chest, even though I don’t get acne there)  using the 60-second rule I learned from Ny, aka The Golden Rx. This is one of my favorite products because it contains salicylic acid and willow bark extract. Both are great for reducing acne and excess oil and it’s really gentle on my skin.

Cleansing:

Related Post: Acure Brightening Facial Scrub Review on Dark Skin.

Toning:

Next, I use Alba Botanica’s Acnedote Deep Clean Astringent with a cotton pad or with my hand. Don’t forget your neck and chest too. It helps to tone after cleansing because it will cleanse the skin even further. This toner also has willow bark and is oil-free. It leaves my skin feeling clean. This astringent has helped to reduce my dark marks.

Exfoliation:

Then, I use Minimo Glow Skin Brightening Face Scrub with the Minimo Scrubbie that came in the bundle that I ordered here. I use this scrub about 3 to 4 times a week. When I do use it, I leave the scrub on as a mask for about 10 minutes. This scrub is turmeric based, which if you don’t know, it can reduce dark spots and even skin tone.

Minimo Glow Tumeric Face Scrub- Ebony Glass Co- Morning Routine

It has turmeric, cinnamon, manuka honey, chamomile, and lemon. It also has no comedogenic oils. Therefore, no clogged pores.

Conditioning.

Minimo Dejavu Sea Buckthorn Serum – Ebony Glass Co.- Morning Skincare Routine.

Moisturizing:

After that, I use the astringent again, but this time I’m only going to pat this into my skin. I’m not going to rub. I do it because this will help my skin to absorb the Minimo’s DÉJÀVU SEA BUCKTHORN FACE SERUM. I Use 1 pump and work the serum into my face and neck. This serum stimulates the healing process and balances the skin’s natural oil production.

Minimo Honeydew Daily Moisturizer- Ebony Glass Co. – Morning Skincare Routine.

After the serum, I add moisture by using Minimo’s Honeydew Hydrating Daily Moisturizer. I love this moisturizer. It lives up to its name and it leaves my skin feeling and looking dewy without making me look like oily.

Protection:

Black Girl Sunscreen – Ebony Glass Co. -Morning Skincare Routine.

To help combat hyperpigmentation and premature aging of my skin, I make sure to wear an SPF 30. I have this one by BlackGirl Sunscreen. It’s super moisturizing and it doesn’t leave me looking ashy. You want to wear your sunscreen on top of your moisturizer.

Checkout My Review of Black Girl Sunscreen here:

Love On Those Lips:

EOS Organic Natural Shea Lip Balm – Ebony Glass Co. – Morning Skincare Routine

Lastly, I finish my routine with my favorite organic lip balm by EOS in the flavor of strawberry sorbet.

This concludes my dark skin morning routine for hyperpigmentation.

Honest Review: L'Oreal Revitalift Deep-Acting Moisturizer.

*Originally posted on my Instagram with some words added here.

I received this product from Influenster to try. I was supposed to take a before and after photo to show how this cream lifted and toned my skin.

My before and after in one photo.

I HAVE to be honest.
I didn’t make it past day one!
I’m going to jump right into why.
I put this on my face and was immediately put off by the smell of the product. I have a sensitive nose and certain smells are hard to ignore. It smelled very medicinal and the fragrance they added didn’t help. I know this isn’t all natural and organic. Sometimes, I don’t mind that. But I don’t expect it to smell like an ointment.

I know this isn’t all natural and organic. Sometimes, I don’t mind that. But I don’t expect it to smell like an ointment.
However, it felt okay on my face. It gave it a healthy glow. It didn’t get dry but if I was to touch my face lightly, I could feel the product on my fingers. I don’t think my skin completely absorbed the product.
Would I use this again? Maybe underneath another product with a stronger scent than this. Unfortunately, I could not use this product daily.

For now, I will stick to using my oil mix as a moisturizer. As far as lifting and toning, I just need to stop sleeping on my face. Can you tell which side of my face I sleep on the most?

Have you used this? If not, would you? What do you use or do to fight the signs of aging?
