As some of you know I’m challenging myself to complete Whole60 after completing Whole30 back in August 2019. During this process, I’ve sacrificed eating typical Christmas and New Year’s meals and snacks in an effort to feel better and also to make this more of a lifestyle choice. This is my effort to reduce the symptoms of endometriosis. I’m determined to thrive!
For those of you whole are doing Whole30 or have completed Whole30, you know at some point you get tired of eating boiled eggs or scrambled eggs with sugar-free bacon or sugar-free sausage. You might be tired of eating animal products all together. Since I’m doing the Whole60 challenge and I’m currently on day 54, I’ve made it to that point. It makes me feel like I don’t deserve bacon because I love bacon, but eating it all the time… Nah!
So, I’m the type to whip up things using whatever I have in my fridge and creating happy experiments and accidents. I knew I wanted something warm, fruity, creamy, sweet, and easy. It’s also vegan, paleo/AIP, low carb, completely grain-free, and Whole30 compliant with no added sugar. Therefore, I’ve create a no-oatmeal breakfast packed with nutrients and fiber.
#Whole30 Journey Round Two!
Today, I’m actually in day 22 as I type this, but today is the first day I decided to talk about it, why I’m doing it again, and why I might go as long as 60 days instead of just 30.
I want to share my Whole30 diet experience with you. Currently, I’m on round two and I didn’t want to post much about my current journey without talking about the first one.
I journaled my journey on my personal Facebook page and on my Instagram page, but I didn’t blog or vlog about it and I don’t know why.
During my first round of Whole30, I went through some things that I’ve never gone through before and let me just say… It was all worth it and it still is. These are posts from my personal Facebook page and some of my teacher groups copied and pasted here into this post.
Here are a few books from the Whole30 Series that I used to help me stay on track. Personally, I wish I had bought them instead of borrowing them from the library because since this is a long process, before, during, and after I didn’t want to return books I needed to reference often.

This book here is one I needed the most and still need.
Sites that I order groceries from: PrimeNow The best place to order from. PrimeNow delivers groceries from Whole Foods the same day AND they have free shipping for Prime Members. There, they have more Whole30 compliant foods and products than anywhere else in my area. I’m able to Primal Kitchen brand foods, sugar-free bacon, and pasture-raised eggs. It helps to already have an Amazon Prime Membership.
Walmart GroceryThe second best place to order your groceries. As always, Walmart is super affordable and offer more organic brands more than they ever have before. The only con with ordering with them is that not everything is in stock, even if it’s on the site and you can’t get your groceries the same day you order.
Day 1: July 10, 2019 Y’all I just started the #Whole30 diet. #DayOne#EndChronicPain#PrayForMe
Day 5. July 14, 2019 Con: I look and feel more bloated (gas wise).💨 Pro:I’m losing water weight.💧 Con: My body didn’t appreciate me trying to walk down the street in shapewear.😵 Pro:I looked good though.🙋🏾♀️ Con: I’m sleepy. 😴 Pro:But I’m not tired.🦸♀️ (More) Pros:👩🏾💼 I feel calmer and less anxious.😌 I laugh easier.😆 I’m being more intentional with what I eat and how it’s made.🥬🍗🥦🥑🥓🥗🍠🍍🥭🍓🍉🍌 #Grateful
At this point, I begin to feel emotionally and spiritually lighter. I was able to laugh and cry easier than ever. I was no longer holding it all back. It made me feel free.
Day 6: July 15, 2019 I’m trying to teach while on day 5 of the Whole30 diet. Mentally, I feel great! Physically, my stomach is trying to convince me to be hungry and I just ate. Gif me!
Day 8: July 18, 2019 Ummmm! Y’all please pray for the no-show gods to come through. I’m so fatigued from this whole30 diet (day 8) and it seems like everybody and their momma is showing up for class. I NEED a few SNSs. PRAY!!!
Day 10: July 20, 2019 I don’t know what this Whole30 diet is doing! Mentally, I feel good and I could keep going. However, I am experiencing common aches and pains. My body wants to stop. After this apparent SNS, I have one more class and then I’m going to go to bed. The white dog is my brain. The other dog is my body.
Day 15: July 25, 2019 Just in case y’all thought I was playin… #Whole30#Day1 vs #Day15 I’m halfway through. I actually considered quitting today before taking this photo. Now, that I see my progress, I’m glad I didn’t. I haven’t been working out as much as I hoped. The fatigue still sets in, but I feel good. #15DaysToGo#LetsGo#DontMindMyMessyBathroom
*By this point, I was including pilates and walking in my routine.
Same day in a facebook group: I don’t know if I mentioned that I am on the Whole30 Diet, but I made it to day 15! I’m halfway through. ESL wise, I feel more patient and energetic. I’m less groggy in the morning. However, I’m still waiting for the grogginess to completely disappear, that’s if it will. And I’m still dealing with the strange side-effect of having difficulty falling asleep, even when I take *Calm magnesium at night. *Although Calm has stevia in it, I still took it to help deal with my anxiety and muscle spasms.*
Day 16: July 26, 2019 (Instagram Post) coilysue86 Thanks to @amazonprimenow, I was able to have a few things delivered to help keep me on the @whole30 path. . Two packs of uncured unsweetened bacon, two pounds of boneless skinless thighs, and two cartons of @vitalfarms eggs. Btw, these will be my forever-eggs. *Unsponsored . #Day16 #Whole30 #PrimeNow #AmazonPrimeNow #CoilySue86 #EbonyGlassCo #WAHM #Blogger #MomPreneur #Entreprenuer #BlackBloggersUnited #BBU #BlkCreatives
Day 24: August 3, 2019. My son’s eighth birthday. Cake! 🎂 #VaselsEighthBirthday #ForHim #NoneForMe #Whole30 #Day24😒 #WatchMeFreezeSomeForLater
No, I didn’t save any for later. That whole cake was his. He wasn’t able to share any because he was sick on his birthday. So, I used PrimeNow again and ordered him a cake and some pizza.
Day 30: August 9, 2019
#Whole30 Days 1, 15, and 30. 💪🏾 💁🏾♀️How do I feel? Better than I’ve ever felt. How much did/do I weigh? I was about 217. I don’t want to know how much I weigh now. I don’t own a scale. I saw my weight about a month ago at the doctor’s. What will I do next? Slowly reintroduce some foods to see what bothers me. But somethings I don’t think I’ll go back to or keep in the home. If I want it, I’ll go sit at a restaurant, eat, and try not to bring any home. I’ll also continue to keep promises to myself. That’s what I learned on this diet… To keep promises to me. I’m worth and I teach people how to treat me by how I treat myself. So, I will reintroduce some things but this might be a forever di… way of life just with some adjustments. . 📒Other things I’ve noticed. 😴I sleep better. My stomach doesn’t hurt anymore. I don’t feel so gassy anymore or get full easily. 💵💰I spend more on groceries and less on fast food. That’s fine with me though. My periods are better and seem to be changing schedule. I’ve learned to respect my body more and be really picky about what I put into it. I like the expensive pasture-raised eggs and sugar-free bacon 🍳🥓 from whole foods. ❤️ I love medjool dates. 🙅🏾♀️Will power doesn’t exist. What exists is the desire to learn how to eat differently and to learn to love yourself more than you love food and the taste of it. I don’t think I’ve ever said it aloud, but I am a compulsive overeater. No jokes. Real addiction. This diet is not a quick – fix or a cure, but a big step towards healthier habits and freedom from the love of food. Not the ‘I love to eat different ethnic foods’ love. I’m talking the love for myself and the love for my life was/ has been replaced with the love of food. That love of food has caused me to do insane things for the pursuit of a flavor on my tongue and the rush of salt and sugar in my body. The type of ill-love has been the culprit of my health issue. THAT “love”! It’s not where I’m supposed to place my love. . Back to the things I’ve noticed… 😌I’m calmer. 😅😭I laugh easier and louder, but I cry easier now too. (Learning it’s okay to cry.) big girl panties are for paying bills not holding back emotions for others. TMI, buuut . . . . 👀 My libido is back! YES! 😜😛😝 Y’ALL! 😅😅😅 🏋🏾♀️When I work out, I’m not extremely sore days after. I’m that sore you get from doing an extra push up, but not I tried a new sport sore. 🙋🏾♀️I wake up easier. Yet, I still have trouble falling asleep. (Misplaced energy?) I have real energy to do stuff. 🤹🏾♀️ I don’t drink coffee or tea either. My eyelashes look fuller and longer. I’ll try to post a photo below. (Didn’t!)
There is so much more, but I have to thank God for helping me. This is another answered prayer. GOD DOES ANSWER PRAYERS. He didn’t forget about you. I thought He forgot about me, but He hasn’t. He did forget about you either.
If you decide to try this diet. Read, read, read up on it before you start. Keep in mind any potential events that are coming up and maybe be aware of them, or start the diet after.

Let me know in the comments if you are doing Whole30, completed Whole30, or about to attempt Whole30.
These are fun and special t-shirts that you didn’t know that you needed. You can wear to any holiday event to let people know what you’re there for. Are you there for the turkey, the macaroni and cheese, the cobbler??? Might as well tell them upfront.
I’m just here for the Mac n Cheese.
Who ain’t here for the Macaroni n Cheese?!?! They can’t come. No dessert for them! I’m ALWAYS here for the Mac n Cheese.Gift this shirt to the family member who makes the best Mac n Cheese. Gift it to the ones who don’t like Mac n Cheese too. #Petty
Then, order yours today. We have it in adultand children’s sizes. Thanksgiving is less than a month away.
“Happy Easter, Happy Fourth of July, I hope you like your sweet potato pie!” Leave a comment below if you know where that’s from. Hint: It’s usually followed by “birthday bean pie.” Brownie points if you can name the character in the comments below.
To me, Thanksgiving and Christmas just aren’t the same without sweet potato pie. My mom always made it from scratch, even the crust if she had time. It’s even better when the sweet potatoes are roasted instead of boiled. This may be the shirt for you unless you’re the type to say…
I mean, I guess. It isn’t horrible. (I’m sure you can begin to see my preference here.) It’s good and a little softer than the sweet potato pie. Between the two it’s the only one that actually makes sense. Think about it. A pumpkin is a fruit (just learned that) and the sweet potato is actually a yam. It makes sense to have fruit pies over yam pies.
These are also available in children’s sizes.
I just here for the Turkey.
Now, now, look! Don’t even try to tell me that you don’t want any turkey. Ain’t nothing like the well-season juicy turkey thigh. Forget the breast! The breast belongs in a turkey pot pie. That’s it!
Who all gon’ be over there?
I know it doesn’t go with the theme, but it’s another way of assessing if you’re going over your aunt’s house on Thanksgiving Day. It’s a common phrase said amongst those in the black community.
Who all gon’ be over there says so much. It says…
Is my favorite cousin over there?
Will there be someone I can chill, smoke, drink, laugh, wreak havoc with?
I’m not going unless ___________ gon’ be there.
And so much more.
I’m just here for the Cobbler!
YES! Peach cobbler with a healthy scoop of vanilla ice cream! OMG!
I really like the crust with the juices and a few peaches more than anything
Not a fan of peaches? That’s okay. There’s blueberry cobbler and apple cobbler. Or just make your own kind.
Which t-shirt are you most like to wear and why? What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year? Tell me in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you.
I thought I would answer this common question to help you all get an idea of what to expect during the Qkids hiring process.
If they are interested in hiring you, you should hear back from them within three days to a week. Usually, it’s three days. When you apply, make sure you complete the whole process. That means send everything they’re asking for. They will ask you to send a video (intro and reading a book), computer specs, and availability.
If all is well with that, they will have you do an interview, a mock class, and one to two (sometimes more) demo classes. In some cases, you can schedule your first interview and your mock class within a day of each other. It depends on your availability and the availability of the interviewer/ trainer they’ve assigned to you.
The interviewer/ trainer will pretend to be a 5-year-old student and/ or will pretend to be an older student. Either way, you are to do your best to teach them the same way you would a real child.
Also, keep checking for their email. Make sure you check your spam folder too. One of my recruits found their email in her spam folder.
The entire interview process from start to finish can take about two weeks.
If you have to do more than two demo classes, it could be because you are having trouble remembering things that every ESL teacher should do.
TPR (Total Physical Response).
You have to use TPR when teaching any language. It helps the student understand what you are saying to them and it helps them to remember it better.
For example: “What do you like to eat?”
What… – shrug your shoulders as if to say, “I don’t know.”
do you… – point to the camera to point to them.
like… – maybe give a thumbs up or rub your belly and say “yum”.
to eat? – for this, I use the baby sign language to eat.
If you do not do this, they will tell you about it.
I also recommend researching videos on using TPR.
Encouraging the student to respond in full sentences.
With the Qkids platform, there are some sections that have only half of the sentence written and the student has to complete it. However, you are to encourage the student to read or complete the sentence fully.
For example: “I have ballet class every ________ .”
Don’t just have them say the day of the week or time of the day. Have them say it completely. You can even use TPR and cup your hand to your ear and tap your chin as you say each word. If you fail to do this, they will tell you about it in the feedback and it may come with screenshots of you too.
You may be going over the allotted class time.
Each class is typically 30 minutes long and you have about 5 to 7 minutes to enter the next class.
If you find that you are going over this class time, try to keep each section about 2 to 3 minutes long. If the child(ren) don’t seem to understand or keep mispronouncing the words, just move on. They’ll have more classes to practice with. Also, you can hover your mouse pointer over each slide number and it will tell you the name of what’s next. IF there is a slide to skip, skip the ones that say “free talk” and the one that says “role play”. With lower level students, these two slides will take a long time. You can thank me later.
If you fail to end class before the next one begins, you will be marked as a no-show.
