Honest Review: L'Oreal Revitalift Deep-Acting Moisturizer.

*Originally posted on my Instagram with some words added here.

I received this product from Influenster to try. I was supposed to take a before and after photo to show how this cream lifted and toned my skin.

My before and after in one photo.

I HAVE to be honest.
I didn’t make it past day one!
I’m going to jump right into why.
I put this on my face and was immediately put off by the smell of the product. I have a sensitive nose and certain smells are hard to ignore. It smelled very medicinal and the fragrance they added didn’t help. I know this isn’t all natural and organic. Sometimes, I don’t mind that. But I don’t expect it to smell like an ointment.

I know this isn’t all natural and organic. Sometimes, I don’t mind that. But I don’t expect it to smell like an ointment.
However, it felt okay on my face. It gave it a healthy glow. It didn’t get dry but if I was to touch my face lightly, I could feel the product on my fingers. I don’t think my skin completely absorbed the product.
Would I use this again? Maybe underneath another product with a stronger scent than this. Unfortunately, I could not use this product daily.

For now, I will stick to using my oil mix as a moisturizer. As far as lifting and toning, I just need to stop sleeping on my face. Can you tell which side of my face I sleep on the most?

Have you used this? If not, would you? What do you use or do to fight the signs of aging?

Black Girls Are… Good Girls and Then Some.

 daughter-of-the-forest-1430987-638x545-2

Yes, you read it right. Black girls are good girls. Black women are good women. Yes, I made a general statement about us because it’s true and we are more than good.

I know there are messy, conniving, drama filled, evil women who happen to be black, but I am not talking about them. I am talking to them because we are all capable to do wrong. However, the good that I speak of isn’t the goodie-goodie, do no wrong, or holy girl you might be thinking of because only God is the true meaning of being good. Which all good gifts come from Him and that definitely would include us.

You are probably the type of black girl or woman, that never really care to be a part of the crowd. You might be like me, eccentric and always will be. I am more than okay with this and I recommend that you practice saying “I’m more than okay with this” because words have power over your life. Even though you may deal with name calling, bullying, and total exclusion; learn to be more than okay with yourself. Learning to be okay with yourself will be rewarding continually in various ways. Possibly, because being yourself and odd can keep so many “anti-you” things away from you. Some “anti-you” things might make it past the gate to give you stress because that is life.  Either way, we are taken care of and we are loved greatly.

We struggle a lot; we’ve seen a lot, but we are always taken care of. In acknowledging that, it may help us to look for and appreciate the good things about ourselves and then show the same mercy and kindness to all others around us. Whatever was thought to be bad or wrong about us for most is a blessing for us and others.

We are the black girls and women who radiate peace, understanding, unconditional love, and don’t allow their circumstances to hide their light. We speak up and cause trouble for the underdog because we know what it’s like to be the underdog. We are the ones that prove the world wrong just by being ourselves and making strides toward our goals, the kind of goals that we “aren’t supposed” to have.

www.twitter.com/nini_bWe are the type that hate to see the world suffer, but are willing to risk the world mocking us just to attempt help another sister or brother. We are chubby, fat, toned, thick, cute, sexy, well fed and well taken care of by our heavenly father in various ways. Therefore, our melanin pops hard and the curves in our hips and thighs exist to bear the life that is ours to carry and reproduce.

We are powerful, resilient, competent, adequate, intelligent, and strong. We feel pain, fear, uncertainty, and discouragement.

We are ourselves from the top to bottom, inside and out. Quite frankly my dear that is a very good thing and then some.

The Best Acne and Dandruff Fighting Masks!

Hey everyone!

I have been experimenting and filming some of them with a new camera that I am still getting used to. But I have a new creation to help fight acne and dandruff naturally or with natural products. Well, it’s not NEW new because this method has been used before. However, this is my personal recipe using the antibacterial and anti-fungal properties of tea tree oil in combination with Moroccan Mud a.k.a Rhassoul Clay and Bentonite clay.

From my personal (non-professional) research, acne and dandruff are not caused by the same things. However, I have found that there are types of acne bumps that can appear on the face, neck, and chest or back that are caused by candida and can be treated the same with this mix IF you are to try to treat your symptoms at home.
Both of these recipes contain the same ingredients but vary in the amount of the ingredients used.
The recipe is simple and can be adjusted to meet your personal needs.

The Best Acne and Dandruff Fighting Masks!
My Coily hair with The Clarifying, Dandruff Fighting Hair Mask.

This recipe calls for these wonderful ingredients and here’s how they will help your skin, scalp, and hair improve.

Aloe Vera Juice is made from the gel of the aloe vera plant. Aloe vera contains saponin which is a blend of anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties. It makes a great skin and hair conditioner, leaving both the hair and skin very soft.

Organic Rhasshoul Clay(Moroccan Mud) 1lb (453 grams)

Rhassoul Clay (Moroccan Mud) or (Moroccan Ghassoul Clay) mined from the Atlas Mountains, is brownish red in color and is known for its unmatched abilities to detox and remove impurities from the skin and hair. The mineral contents are what gives this clay it’s ability to improve skin clarity and elasticity, reduces dryness, and unblocks pores.

Pure Bentonite Clay 1 lb(16 oz)
Courtesy of Butters-n-Bars.com

Bentonite Clay (Sodium Bentonite) is aged volcanic ash sun dried to remove any excess moisture (the type I ordered is a product of the United States). When hydrated, it goes through electrical and molecular changes and becomes electrically charged. It is this electrical charge that absorbs and removes toxins from your skin and hair. **Note** DO NOT USE ANY METAL UTENSILS TO MIX THIS CLAY. It will interfere with the electrical charge and will not do what is meant to do, which is detox the hair and skin.
This is also a swelling clay when hydrated. So, when using this in a recipe, just know that it will expand.

Yes, both of these clays have awesome detoxification properties that with each use will improve your skin and hair. They both condition and nourish the hair and scalp.

Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis) an oil from the jojoba plant. It’s an oil that closely resembles our own skin oil (sebum), is a great moisturizer to add to this mix to avoid over-drying of the skin with this mask. Which is a common result with people and may cause breakouts to appear or worsen. But jojoba oil also has antibacterial properties that control bacterial growth in the pores and hair follicles. It’s high in vitamin e and softens and conditions the skin.

Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) is from a tree native to Australia and is known for it’s anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. There have been studies to show that it can work as well (but not as quickly) as benzoyl peroxide, but with fewer side effects. If you want a great acne treatment without all the side effects, products with tea tree oil will be of great benefit to you.

*Note: Tea Tree oil is an oil that shouldn’t be used alone. If used by itself, the potency is strong enough to irritate the skin and the potent aroma can irritate the eyes. So, just take that as a warning that you shouldn’t use this without the above ingredients or a carrier oils such as jojoba oil, olive oil, coconut oil, etc. Or used without diluting liquids such as water, aloe vera juice, rosewater, etc.

Let’s start with part one which is the face mask recipe.

The Best Acne-Fighting Clay Mask!!! CoilySue86

The Best Acne-Fighting Clay Mask Recipe!

2 Tbsp of Organic Aloe Vera Juice

1 Tbsp of Rhassoul Clay (Moroccan Mud)

1 to 2 Tbsp of Bentonite Clay (Sodium Bentonite)

1 to 2 tsp of Jojoba Oil

About 6 to 8 drops of Tea Tree Oil

Using a small cup or bowl, add all the ingredients and mix thoroughly with a NON-METAL spoon. So, wood or plastic is fine. Try to get it as smooth as possible. If there are small clumps, that is fine, but large clumps may mean that there are dry pockets of clay.

If your mix is soupy, wait for 3 to 5 minutes to see if the bentonite clay will expand even further. If doens’t, then add more bentonite clay only. I say only because bentonite clay will expand and even out the clay to liquid ratio. Plus, for me, the bentonite clay is the cheaper of the two clays. So, it makes sense to use the bentonite clay.

If you have any leftover, refrigerate the remaining clay. From my own experience, it will last one week. If you don’t refrigerate, it will get moldy.

How I use this face mask:

I apply it, avoiding the hairline, and I leave it only until it dries. If it gets uncomfortable before it completely dries, that’s okay. Just spray or splash with water or just go ahead and rinse it off.

It usually leaves me with soothed and smoothed skin!

The Clarifying, Dandruff Fighting Hair Mask! ~ CoilySue86

The Clarifying, Dandruff Fighting Hair Mask Recipe!

1/4 cup of Organic Aloe Vera Juice. It will vary on how much hair you have. But start with a little.

1 Tbsp of Rhassoul Clay (Moroccan Mud)

1 Tbsp of Bentonite Clay (Sodium Bentonite)

1 Tbsp of Jojoba Oil

6 to 8 Drops of Tea Tree Oil

In a bottle small enough for the application, mix all the ingredients and shake well. After shaking, this is the time to determine if this is enough for that amount of hair you have. If it is not enough for you, add more aloe vera juice. *You don’t want to realize you don’t have enough while in the middle of applying this mask.

*There are some people who make this mix really thick for their hair, I think that is not a good idea. The thicker the clay mix, the harder it will be to rinse out of your hair. Especially, if you have kinky coily hair like me. It’s not impossible to rinse out, but it will take much longer and probably a trip or two back into the shower or over the sink, depending on where you wash your hair.

How I use this hair mask:
I section my hair into four sections. I apply the liquid directly to my hair and massage it into my scalp for a few minutes each time for each section. This mix shouldn’t dry in the hair because of the amount of oil and water in it, but if it feels like it’s drying, spray with water OR apply it in the shower and apply then rinse each section out.

The results are always amazing! I use this about once a month or when I see my dandruff returning.

**To see me demonstrate how I multi-task using these two masks, watch it here!**
